What is authoring?!

Well, authoring could be considered as the act of putting together a working program. The end result can be a program, a shockwave piece or a part of some other work.

Is authoring then an other word for programming?

No. To create a simple piece in an authoring environment, not much programming knowledge has to be known. BUT as you would like to have more interaction, programming is needed.

But authoring is more!

What kind of media goes together? What kind of design decisions? What is the best approach for what medium? How do you create the different media types needed for your solution ?

Solutions made within an authoring environment are typically MUCH faster done than would the same project have been handled with a programming language such as C++.

That this translates into lower costs, is beyond doubt!
